Style Spotlight: Ashley from Lazy Daisy Jones

Welcome to another Style Spotlight feature, where we focus on one lovely lady and her thoughts on fashion and beauty.

This week I’m thrilled to introduce Ashley from the blog Lazy Daisy Jones.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi Jen, it’s a pleasure to be featured in your Style Spotlight.

I live in Dorset, in the rural south west of England with my family and two mad Shih-tzus.

In my 20’s I was a British airways Stewardess, in my 30’s I was a retail manager for Next and in my 40’s I settled down to raise a family. I started my lifestyle blog Lazy Daisy Jones when I turned 50, this I am now.

2. What have you learned about fashion over the years and how does it shape the way you shop for clothes now?

I have learned about dressing for your body shape (I have a long body and short legs) so I know what suits me and what does not.

Plus the older I get, the more confident I have become, worrying less about what others think and enjoying being in my own skin!

Knowing what suits me makes it easy to shop online, which I do a lot!

3. Can you tell us some of your favourite fashion brands and why you like them?

These days I buy less and buy better. For instance I don’t shop at Primark because of the quality. I would rather save up and buy something more expensive that will last longer and is made beautifully.

I am very conscious about sustainable fashion, and try to shop from ethical brands.

My favourite stores are Arket and Cos plus occasionally ‘& other stories’ surprisingly they are all part of the H&M group!

I also wear and collect Vintage dresses too.

4. What’s your most favourite piece in your wardrobe right now?

I have two favourite pieces in my wardrobe these days, both are wide legged, high waisted cropped jeans from M&S.

One pair is dark Indigo colour  and the other is Ecru.

I am wearing them on rotation teamed with various knitwear and/or satin blouses.

5. How do you take care of your skin and what are some of your favourite products?

I am fanatical about moisturiser and always have been. I don’t wear a lot of makeup and rarely wear it during the day.

I like to try new things and at the moment I am very keen on facial oils (organic of course).

I have always been a fan of Clarins but at the moment I love and rave about all the Beauty Pie products, their new Superdrops High Intensity Hydration drops is the bees knees and I can recommend it to everyone as it is for all skin types.

6. What are you lusting over right now in either fashion or beauty?

I am lusting over the ruffled dresses I’ve seen on the catwalks recently. I want all the ruffles for summer! In beauty I am lusting over one of Miller Harris’ new Fragrances it is called Scherzo and it smells divine.

7. Finally, what’s your favourite way to unwind?

I unwind and relax by crocheting. I love to hook up projects for our house, blankets, cushion covers and even little plant pot holders.

During the winter I curl up on the sofa in front of the log fire with my crochet hook and a dog or two and watch old films, bliss!

I couldn’t agree more with Ashley’s thoughts on Beauty Pie and look out for a post coming very soon about the wonders of this new way to buy our skincare products.
