Style Spotlight: Antonia from #tidylife

Welcome to a new feature on the blog – Style Spotlight – where we turn attention to other amazing women to find out what’s in their wardrobe, how they look after their skin and their emotional wellbeing.

Today’s spotlight is on Antonia from #tidylife.

  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m Antonia Ludden, a 46 year old married mum of 3 boys.  I live in Manchester and have been blogging about home interiors since 2012.  Before the children came along I was a Personal Assistant and have always been interested in fashion, health & beauty.

  1. What have you learned about fashion over the years and how does it shape the way you shop for clothes now?

It has taken me a while but I think I’ve come to realise now what my personal style is and its quite pared back and minimal actually.  I’m not into clashing or overly bright colours or bold patterns on me.  I’m trying to create a smart and comfortable capsule wardrobe for myself that feels effortless to wear and looks good.

Dress: M&S Star Midi Dress

I like a tailored jacket with jeans and trainers in the day and a simple dress or jeans and leather jacket combo for evenings out!  I tend to opt for navy, black, grey and white with the odd little pop of colour or metallics. I’ve always worn silver jewellery rather than gold, it seems to suit my fair complexion better.

  1. Can you tell us some of your favourite fashion brands and why you like them?

I’m enjoying good old M&S at the moment! They seem to have found their mojo with their affordable limited edition collection. I also rate their Try Tuesday service where you are emailed curated outfit ideas on a regular basis; I find that really useful and inspiring.

Dress: M&S Floral Print Swing Midi Dress

I aspire to look like I’ve been dressed by All Saints and Mint Velvet, but only tend to buy their items in the sales and I like high street stores such as Warehouse and a bit of Topshop. Quite a lot of my outfit inspo these days comes from the 40+ fashion instagrammers I follow.

  1. What’s your most favourite piece in your wardrobe right now?

It would have to be my navy M&S tea dress with the red stripe and white stars!

  1. How do you take care of your skin and what are some of your favourite products?

Skincare is becoming a bit of an obsession of mine as I’m fast approaching 47.  I try not to get overly anxious about wrinkles, or sold on the latest ‘wonder cream’ but I do like to treat my skin and keep it looking as hydrated and good as possible.  I’m a fan of hot cloth cleansers and a non fancy moisturiser, like Nivea, Liz Earle or even Aldi.

I tend to use a serum now under my moisturiser and love the sound of anything that promises ‘blurring’! I’ve recently tried a skincare range aimed at those who do sports and I’m really liking it.  It’s called Pretty Athletic and the gel cleanser is great to use after a workout.  They also have a light oil which is amazing, my skin looks all glowy and plumped up after I’ve used it.  I have quite dry, sensitive skin, so it feels really replenishing without being too oily.

  1. What are you lusting over right now in either fashion or beauty?

I’m tempted to buy the Pillow Talk lipstick by Charlotte Tilbury. It’s more than I would normally spend on a lippie, but it supposedly suits everyone and I do really love a nude lipstick so I think that’s going to be my next little treat!

  1. Finally, what’s your favourite way to unwind?

I just love getting in the shower with my favourite body polisher, which is Flake Away by Soap & Glory.  The smell is just divine and it leaves my skin feeling silky and soft.
